Children:

The vast majority of children available are infants. Some toddlers. The children reside in an American-run orphanage outside of Guatemala City and are blessed with one caregiver to three children. The children are beautiful with fair to medium complexions. Guatemalan people are warm and friendly.

Adoptive Parent Criteria:

Married couples and single women up to age 50 may adopt. Interested clients over age 50 must receive special permission. Parents may adopt one infant.

Adoption Process:

Documents for the dossier are authenicated at the Guatemalan Embassy. The average time to referral is four months. Children are referred at the age of 2 weeks to 2 months and one parent may travel to bring the child home after 4 or 5 months. Parents mayvbisit the child any time during the 4 or 5 month waiting period. An escort is available with special permission, but travel for one parent is encouraged to meet the caregivers and the bitrhmother, with her consent.

There are no post placement reports required and no contact is maintained with the birthmother once in the States.
